BEAR CREEK TOWNSHIP — A Monday fire in Luzerne County destroyed a home and claimed the lives of two family pets, though a family of three, including a newborn baby, escaped unharmed.
Fire departments from Bear Creek, Thornhurst, Kunkle, and other surrounding areas were called to the blaze on Twinbrook Road. Fire officials reported that the home sustained extensive damage from smoke, fire, and water, both inside and out.
A man, a woman, and their newborn baby, who all lived in the house, were able to get out safely. The family is now staying with relatives. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
