BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A New Jersey woman is facing felony charges after allegedly breaking into multiple homes in a Luzerne County neighborhood on Monday.
Butler Township Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Old Airport Road following a report of a woman illegally entering a residence. Police identified the suspect as Monika Pasternak, of Passaic, New Jersey.
According to police, Pasternak entered the first victim's home—that of an 80-year-old resident—through a back door. She confronted the victim inside the residence, allegedly making demands in broken English. Pasternak then fled the home on foot.
A second victim later reported seeing Pasternak inside their garage before she again fled into nearby woods. Police successfully tracked and arrested her.
Pasternak has been formally charged with burglary and criminal trespassing in connection with the incidents. The investigation is ongoing.
