PLAINS TOWNSHIP, PA — The Woodlands Inn has confirmed the cancellation of a controversial event featuring Kyle Rittenhouse, who was acquitted in the 2020 Kenosha shootings, following significant backlash and reports of threats.
The event, which was scheduled to host Rittenhouse and feature conservative commentator Teddy Daniels as the master of ceremonies, had already been under scrutiny after the Luzerne County Republican Committee publicly distanced itself from the gathering. The committee issued a statement asserting it had “no involvement, affiliation, or connection” with the event.
According to comments attributed to Daniels, the Woodlands Inn canceled the engagement after the venue began receiving threats. Daniels reportedly stated that the event organizers are now actively searching for an alternative venue to hold the gathering.
Rittenhouse gained national attention after a jury found him not guilty of homicide and other charges related to the shooting deaths of two men and the wounding of a third during civil unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Events featuring Rittenhouse have previously been canceled by other venues in different states after facing public opposition.
The Woodlands Inn has not yet released a formal statement regarding the nature or specifics of the threats mentioned by the event organizers.
