WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, PA — Shoppers in Luzerne County will need to adjust their plans today as the Wyoming Valley Mall remains shuttered due to a significant power issue. Mall management announced via social media that the facility will be closed throughout the day to allow specialized electrical crews to perform emergency repairs.

According to a statement posted to the mall's official Facebook page, technicians have successfully isolated the source of the electrical failure. Officials noted that the closure is necessary because crews are currently in the process of acquiring the specific parts required to resolve the issue safely. The outage appears to be localized to the mall complex and has not been reported to affect surrounding businesses on Highland Park Boulevard or Mundy Street.

This is not the first time the aging infrastructure at the shopping center has caused disruptions; the mall faced similar multi-day closures due to underground transmission line failures in both June and December of 2025. While management has not yet provided a definitive timeline for reopening, they have promised to provide another update once the repairs are completed and the building is deemed safe for the public. Shoppers are encouraged to check the mall's digital platforms for a status update before traveling to the site tomorrow morning.
