Disabled rocker Rick Allen of Def Leppard was violently attacked Monday night outside of a hotel in Florida. Allen had reportedly walked out of the Four Seasons Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, where Leppard was set to play a show on their tour with Motley Crüe, when he was assaulted.
The attacker is alleged to be 19-year-old Max Edward Hartley, a spring breaker from Ohio who was reportedly hiding outside the hotel. Hartley allegedly came barreling full speed at Allen, knocked him back, and he slammed his head on the pavement. An unidentified woman attempted to come to Allen’s aid when Hartley is said to have attacked her too. She escaped into the lobby but the suspect then dragged her back outside to assault her more.
The teenager fled but was eventually apprehended. Though it is confirmed he was left with a head injury, Allen and the woman were apparently in good enough condition to provide police with statements on the incident.
