CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – The Cleveland Guardians placed third baseman Jose Ramirez on the bereavement list and called up one of their top prospects, infielder Brayan Rocchio, from AAA Columbus.
The moves were made Tuesday afternoon prior to the start of the three-game series in Chicago against the White Sox.
The 22-year-old Rocchio was hitting .338 with a home run and 21 RBI for the Clippers this season.
Ramirez, a four-time All-Star, is hitting .285 with four home runs, 22 RBI and 21 runs scored for the Guardians this season.
Under MLB rules, a player placed on the bereavement list must miss a minimum of three games and a maximum of seven games.
