'Morning Quickie': Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in Texas

2 million without power

Hurricane Beryl left its mark on Texas after making landfall yesterday morning.

At least six people were killed by falling trees or drowning, with up to nine inches of rain drenching the Houston area in a short amount of time.

Over two million were left without power in Texas as of last night, and authorities reported at least 47 high water rescues in Harris County alone.

As of late last night, Beryl had lost strength and become a tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, moving to the north-northeast at around 17 mph.
