Thousands of residents are dealing with power outages after storms swept through Northeast Ohio on Tuesday.
Heavy downpours and strong winds took down powerlines and utility poles across the region, knocking out power to residents as tornado warnings and watches were issued through the late afternoon.
Around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, FirstEnergy was reporting as many as 223,000 customers without power in Cuyahoga County alone.
By Wednesday morning, power to some had been restored but many were still waking up in the dark. As of 6 a.m., the company reports these counties are experiencing the most outages:
Ashtabula County – More than 11,000
Cuyahoga County – More than 200,000
Geauga County – More than 24,000
Lake County – More than 50,000
Lorain County – More than 24,000
Mahoning County – More than 1,600
Portage County – More than 3,000
Summit County – More than 4,000
Trumbull County – More than 8,000
Across the state, more than 330,000 customers are dealing with outages.
