Two of the biggest cookies and crackers on the market are joining forces to make a new sweet and savory concoction.
That’s right, there is a brand new sweet and salty treat coming to shelves – the Ritz x Oreo.
The video game-like name explains the basic formula of the new snack collab: it’s an Oreo cookie where one side is the familiar dark chocolatey classic Oreo with its white cream filling. But then – oh snap! ( as in snapping open an Oreo like we all do) – there’s a layer of peanut butter creme and a Ritz cracker!
Despite Oreo’s recent adventurous nature, both snacks are owned by Mondelez. Today offered their preferred name for the new invention: “The Mondelez Mashup.”
So now when that midday stomach grumble happens and you’re stuck on deciding between a sweet or savory treat, you can throw all commitment aside and grab a Ritz x Oreo.
Don’t waver too long on your snack decision though, this is a genuinely limited offer, not just in regards to timing – they’ll only be available for a limited time – but the company has only made 1,000 packs of them.
If the explosion of Instagram comments are any indication, they’ll be gone toot-sweet. Or toot-salty for that matter.
“This is amazing and needs to be sold in stores!” one hungry fan pleaded. Another realized, “Legendary combo we didn’t know we needed!”
Commenting on the combination of these two classics, Oreo's Senior Brand Manager Sydney Kranzmann said, “At OREO, we are constantly exploring playful ways to excite our fans, from innovative limited-edition flavors to unexpected collaborations.”
An attendant statement from Ritz Senior Brand Manager Alexis Yap sounds like Ritz wants to hop on the Oreo exploration ship. “Over the past few years,” said Yap, “Ritz has been exploring innovative partnerships and experiences to spark excitement around our iconic, buttery cracker. We couldn’t resist the opportunity to collaborate with our friends at OREO on a snack that’s part salty cracker, part chocolate cookie, and entirely delicious.”
