The parade route begins on Chapel Street at Sherman Avenue and proceeds toward the Green before continuing along Church Street and Elm Street, ending near Orange Street. Streets along the route close in advance of the parade, and sidewalks fill early. First held in the 19th century, The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade is recognized as one of the oldest in the country and remains the largest single-day spectator event in Connecticut.
