Land Rover Hartford, 77 Weston St., Hartford, will host the Opera Connecticut production of the delightful holiday opera Amahl and the Night Visitors for the second year in a row. The performance, which lasts a bit less than an hour, is Saturday at 3:00 pm and is free!! It is requested but not required that attendees bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to Food Share. We ask that you register at Eventbrite if you are planning to attend so that we will know how large an audience to prepare for.

Holiday Lights returns for it’s FINAL SEASON at Lake Compounce, Friday 4-9pm, Saturday 3-9pm and Sunday 3-8pm.  Don’t miss over a half a million twinkling lights, Connecticut’s Tallest Christmas Tree (100ft tall!), holiday food, kiddie rides and a visit from Santa! Art+Soul Hartford, an all-female, all-volunteer organization, is hosting its annual holiday artisan market on Saturday 11am to 4pm at Parkville Market. Proceeds from the event will benefit Kenway's Cause Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization focused solely on animal welfare within the city of Hartford. This year’s event features 16 local artists and crafters, offering handmade jewelry, decor, art, and goods. In addition to shopping the vendor stalls, attendees are encouraged to bring donations of unopened pet food, which will be collected at the door to support Kenway's Cause in their mission to aid Hartford’s animals.  Parkville Market, 1400 Park St.  Admission is Free!

Gillette Castle State Park and Castle will be open for every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday between now and Christmas.  The century-old mansion of William Gillette will be festooned with holiday decorations, and there will be plenty of free outdoor offerings on the 122-acre park grounds.  The interior and exterior of the late actor's eccentric home with festive cheer and offer a broad selection of free activities at the state park.  The Castle will be open for self-paced tours from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday on Thanksgiving weekend, and every following weekend through December 21. Each day's final tour starts at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 and may be obtained at the Visitor Center on the day of visit.   To guarantee a slot, advance purchase is highly recommended. Gov. Ned Lamont and First Lady Annie Lamont are inviting Connecticut residents to attend the 35th annual holiday open house at the Governor’s Residence, which will be decorated for the season and open to the public for tours. The open house will be held on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 2pm each day. It is located at 990 Prospect Avenue in Hartford. There is no admittance fee and tickets are not needed. The Governor’s Residence is ADA accessible. Santa Claus will be on-site throughout the event greeting visitors as they arrive.

First Church of Christ on 499 Town St, East Haddam CT, will be holding it's annual Christmas Tea and Children’s Fair on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. There will raffles, cookie decorating, cookies for sale, gently used Christmas decorations for sale, a special room for the children to shop with free gift wrapping and of course SANTA will be there for pictures.
