ANSONIA, Conn. (WTIC) - Police in Ansonia are asking the public's help in an ongoing investigation involving an afternoon shooting Tuesday.
Shortly after noon, police received reports of shots fired in the area of Church Street on Howard Avenue. Callers reported a black male running from the scene and mentioned he was possibly shot.
Shortly afterwards, Griffin Hospital contacted Police reporting a gunshot victim in the emergency room. That victim was a 21-year old Ansonia resident suffering from several gunshot wounds. Police said the victim fled the scene and was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.
Currently, the victim is listed in serious, but stable condition at a New Haven Hospital.
Officers found shell casings of different calibers at the scene, which indicated at least two people were involved in the shooting. Additionally, Police say more than a dozen shots were fired during the incident.
