Authorities Determine Identity in Weekend Plainfield Crash

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTIC) – The Plainfield Police Department and the State of Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office have identified the operator of a fatal single-car crash the morning of May 4th.

21-year old Shane Currier of Danielson, Conn. was identified, as his vehicle crashed in the area of 28 Sterling Road in the Moosup Village of Plainfield.


Police and Fire officials responded to reports of a crash in that area at 2:40 a.m. the morning of May 4th.  The initial investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Sterling Road at a high rate of speed when it veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a large tree head-on.

The vehicle caught fire and was later extinguished by members of the Moosup Fire Department. 

Currier was the sole occupant of the vehicle, as Police announced notifications have been made and the crash will remain under investigation.
