(Groton, Conn./WTIC) - State and local police spent most of the morning and afternoon at the scene of an hours long standoff in Groton.
They now say a man barricaded in a home was found dead this afternoon.
It started after 7:00 Tuesday night.
Local police were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Orion Avenue.
A woman told officers her husband was inside the residence and had fired a gun from within.
She and two young children were removed from the home according to police.
The scene remains active, according to police, and they say there is movement from within the home.
Groton and State Police are being assisted by the FBI and NCIS.
The man's name hasn't been released.
