HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - If you'd rather not attend church this weekend, because of the cornavirus, the Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford says that's okay.
Given Governor Ned Lamont's emergency declarations, Archbishop Leonard Blair says parishioners are dispensed from the obligation of attending Sunday mass through march 29.
The archdiocese has also canceled all confirmations until Easter, ordered confessionals to be equipped with protective screens, and is encouraging worshipers to maintain a greater distance from one another.
The steps are on top of previous safeguards enacted by the church, including exchanging the sign of peace without physical contact, and suspending distribution of holy communion from the chalice.
