PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ A Boston man is due Wednesday in Danielson Superior Court to face charges in connection with driving into a fence Sunday evening.

Plainfield Police say 45-year-old Michael Joseph McGrath of Boston, Massachusettes allegedly hit a residential fence around 7:36 p.m. Sunday.

An Officer went to speak with the property owner and potential witnesses when a 1995 Toyota 4Runner with Massachusettes registration and front-end damage began to approach at a high rate of speed. Despite flashlight signals from the Officer, McGrath did not slow down and instead blew his horn.

The Officer immediately caught up with McGrath and pulled him over. McGrath stated he had no identification but could provide expired registration.

When the Officer went to check paperwork, McGrath attempted to drive away. A struggle ensued between the Officer and McGrath outside the 4Runner. The Officer then grabbed McGrath by his pants in an attempt to put him back in his vehicle, but his pants ended up falling down when McGrath's button became loose.

McGrath has been charged with evading the scene of an accident, failure to maintain lane, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no insurance, interfering and resisting police, and criminal impersonation.

McGrath was held on a $10,000 bond posting his arraignment on September 4, 2019, at Danielson Superior Court.
