HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Governor Ned Lamont announced the launch of a new online tax filing and payment portal Monday as part of ongoing efforts to modernize government services.

The portal, DRS myconneCT, is part of the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS) multi-year IT modernization initiative.

According to state officials, taxpayers can use myconneCT to file state returns, make payments, and view filing histories, officials said, among other self-service options.

myconneCT provides user-friendly services to taxpayers such as a secure web messaging and advanced tax filing reminders, officials said.

Starting Monday, the following business state tax types administered by DRS are available:

  • Sales and Use/Business Use
  • Withholding
  • Room Occupancy (B&B Occupancy)
  • Prepaid Wireless E 9-1-1 Fee
  • Admissions and Dues
  • Tourism Surcharge
  • Rental Surcharge
  • Dry Cleaning Surcharge

This is the first of four phases. According to Acting DRS Commissioner John Biello, the four phases will be implemented yearly with each phase implementation done in September. Future additions will include other state tax types, including individual income tax.

"This new portal is just one piece of our larger efforts to make sure that businesses spend less time talking to us at the state – and more time growing their business," Lamont said.

The governor said this work continues even during the COVID-19 pandemic, because the state is committed to ensure businesses have what they need to be successful in all climates.

More information about myconneCT is available on the DRS website.
