HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut Children's Medical Center is launching a hotline to help parents and pediatricians with questions regarding COVID-19 and children.

The hotline will connect callers to a Connecticut Children's clinician 24 hours a day, every day of the week, officials say.

Callers will have general questions answered, get the latest information about the virus and get direction about when someone needs to be seen by a specialist or needs to go to the hospital, according to Physician in Chief Dr. Juan Salazar.

"It is important parents get the answers they need regarding their children, when they need it," Salazar says.

Along with the hotline, the medical center has launched a Coronavirus Information Center on its website.

Officials say information regarding different topics is available on there, including parental advice blogs on communicating with children about the virus and how to keep up a routine for children while schools are closed.

The hotline is available starting Thursday, March 19, at 8 a.m. and can be reached at 1-833-226-2362.
