(WTIC-AM) -- The views of some Democratic Connecticut members of Congress changed rapidly, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that an impeachment inquiry would begin.
Shortly before the speaker's announcement, Hartford-area Congressman John Larson said he would advocate for an impeachment investigation.
Larson said the Trump administration has obstructed congressional investigations and is breaking the law.
Eastern Connecticut Congressman Joe Courtney released statement calling for an impeachment inquiry shortly before Pelosi's formal announcement.
Courtney said he had supported congressional investigations, but his thinking changed because there is now a ‘credible’ complaint concerning a sitting president and extralegal promises with a foreign leader.
Shortlyl after Pelosi's anouncement, Western Connecticut Congresswoman Jahana Hayes said she supports the start of impeachment proceedings because the president has tried to impede congressional investigations, in violation of the constitution.
Monday night, New Haven-area Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro said an impeachment inquiry may be the only recourse Congress has if the President is enlisting foreign assistance in the 2020 election.
Southwestern Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes called for an impeachment inquiry three months ago.
There are no Republicans in the state's Congressional delegation.
