COLCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The State Department of Public Health is investigating a Colchester nursing home after a COVID-19 outbreak and an uptick in positive cases in Eastern Connecticut.
DPH says the Harrington Court Nursing Home reported a resident tested positive for COVID-19 on September 16. Two days later, State Health Officials found several unspecified infection control deficiences in an on-site inspection of the facility.
Since then, six follow-up surveys found additional infection control issues for which the facility is addressing and will be cited.
11 positive residents have been temporarily moved to the Quinnipiac Valley Center COVID Recovery Facility in Wallingford. QVC is one of four designated facilities to assist nursing homes in large outbreaks.
DPH continues to work with the facility on appropriate cohorting, testing, and infection control measures.
