Ansonia Police now say the father of missing 15-month-old Vanessa Morales is a suspect in her disappearance and in the killing of the girl's mother, Christine Holloway.
Jose Morales, 43, has been in custody on unrelated weapons charges. Police have said he's been cooperating in the investigations.
In a statement released Tuesday evening, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said, "Finding Vanessa and bringing her home safely is our main priority."
He added, "We are not looking to arrest or start criminal proceedings against whoever has Vanessa; we just want her returned to her family."
The toddler was missing from the Ansonia apartment where her mother's body was found Dec. 2.
An Amber Alert, which remains active, was issued a few days later.
