HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - In anticipation of inclement winter weather this weekend, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin is activating a twenty-four hour snow parking ban for the city - starting at 6 p.m. and ending on Monday, March 4th at 6 p.m.

The city's warming center will be open during its regular hours from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. as well.  Mayor Bronin stressed how important the public's participation and respect in the parking ban is for the city.

"At this point we expect between four and eight inches of snow tomorrow night, beginning with rain starting around 6 p.m.," said Major Bronin.  "Our Blue Light Lots, Hartford Public Schools lots and other city lots will be open at noon tomorrow, and we ask residents to comply with the parking ban as soon as possible.  It is essential that all residents and visitors respect the parking ban so that our Public Works team can work quickly and safely."

All on-street parking is prohibited throughout the City of Hartford during a snow parking ban.  Vehicles not moved from city streets by the start of the parking ban will be ticketed or even towed.  For those without access to off-street parking, there are authorized parking areas throughout the city that residents can access.

Those accessible lots include Blue Light Lots, City Parks, Recreation and Senior Centers and Hartford Public Schools parking lots.  Additionally, 16 major intersections will be illuminated with blue light beginning six hours before the parking ban and will remain illuminated throughout the duration of the ban.

Four hours after the snow parking ban has been lifted, all vehicles in City Blue Light Lots must be removed.  Furthermore, any vehicle parked at a Hartford Public School lot must be moved within two hours of the completion of the parking ban.
