Investigation Leads to Suspension for Clubhouse Cafe in Hamden

HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC) - The Liquor Control Commission has suspended the liquor license for the Clubhouse Cafe indefinitely.

The State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Commission, along with the Hamden Police Department Interdiction Team responded to the establishment on 3816 Whitney Avenue where a sign has been affixed to the establishment notifying customers of the suspension.

The suspension stems from two liquor compliance checks conducted in the past year.  In April of 2018, police found approximately 100 people under 21 years of age on the premises during a check.  They also seized 42 fraudulent identifications during the check as well.

Recently, Police received numerous complaints of students from the nearby college walking intoxicated in the road coming to and from the establishment, which led to another compliance check.

Last Friday, Hamden Police conducted that compliance check where officers issued 131 infractions for "Simple Trespass" to patrons under 21 years of age.

The Clubhouse Cafe's liquor license has been suspended indefinitely, pending a future hearing.
