NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The state is working with cell phone carriers to improve coverage and internet service along the Metro-North New Haven Line.Governor Ned Lamont says there should be consistent 4G coverage along the entire line from New Haven to Grand Central Terminal in New York within a year, and faster 5G service in a couple of years.The upgrades involve adding mini cell towers along the railroad right of way. The upgrades do not require work to be performed on rail cars and come at no cost to the state, said officials.Though the work has been included in Lamont's CT2030 transportation plan, it's likely to be performed even if the transportation plan fails to win approval.
