Man Wanted for Identity Theft Flees After Being Pulled Over

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State troopers are searching for a Stafford man who has an arrest warrant for identity theft in Ohio and a suspended license when they pulled him over Tuesday morning.

Police pulled over Troy Burgess, 25, for a seat belt violation in the area of Route 32 southbound in Stafford Springs at around 9:35 a.m. According to police, when troopers approached the vehicle, Burgess put the car in reverse and fled the scene.

Burgess drove away at an extremely high rate of speed after nearly striking troopers and officers, police say.

There were three individuals in the vehicle with Burgess, one adult female and two small children, according to police.

Officials describe the vehicle as a red 2009 Lincoln sedan with damage to the front left bumper area, bearing Ohio registration HYL2576.

State police ask anyone that knows the whereabouts of Burgess to contact Troop C in Tolland at 860-896-3200 or the Stafford Resident State Trooper's Office at 860-684-3777.
