NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Canaan police arrested a 19-year-old man for several charges Wednesday related to an assault that left a victim with lacerations on the face and a broken nose.

Officials say an assault occurred between Arlind Bajraktari of New Canaan and an acquaintance on January 5. They say the assault left the acquaintance with several injuries including a broken nose and a dislodged jaw.

Through an investigation, police say it was determined Bajraktari took a cellphone from the victim so an emergency call for assistance couldn't be made.

On Tuesday, February 4, New Canaan police say they went to Bajraktari's resident in an attempt to take him into custody. They say they found him located inside the residence which was a violation of an active protective order.

Police charged Bajraktari with assault in the second degree, disorderly conduct, interfering with an emergency call, criminal trespassing, and violation of a protective order. All the charges resulted in a $55,000.00 bond.

Bajraktari is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, February 5.
