
NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Emergency crews responded to the scene of an accident involving an Amtrak passenger train in Newington late Friday morning.The crash involving a train, consisting of a locomotive and two passenger cars, and an Amtrak engineering vehicle, occurred in the area of Stamm Road around 11:10 a.m., said the railroad. Two people in the engineering vehicle were able to escape before the crash."Train 470 is currently stopped north of Berlin," the railroad said in a tweet shortly after 11:30 a.m. The train was heading from New Haven to Springfield, Mass.
Six passengers sustained minor injuries, according to an Amtrak spokesman. There were about 65 people on the train, he said.
