ANSONIA, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - In less than 48 hours, Connecticut State Police released the names of the victim and Ansonia Police Officers involved in an officer-involved shooting investigation in Ansonia.

Police say the victim was positively identified as 30-year-old Michael Gregory of Ansonia on Satuday, January 4. According to police, an autopsy was conducted on Friday, January 3 at the State of Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington.

Officials say the Ansonia Police Officers involved in the incident are Patrol Sergeant Christopher Flynn, Officer Brendon Nelson and Officer Wojciech Podgorski. According to police, Flynn has been a member of the Ansonia Police Department since April 1990, Nelson has been a member since December 2012 and Podgorski has been a member since December 2017.

State Police say the information was released at the request of the Danbury State's Attorney's Office.

The incident involved an Ansonia officer shooting Gregory in a domestic violence incident Thursday night on Myrtle Avenue in Ansonia, police say. Authorities say Gregory was armed with a knife, and after he failed to drop the knife upon police orders, he was hit with a taser. Police Chief Andrew Cota says the taser had no effect and that Gregory was shot once after advancing toward officers.

Police say additional information will be disseminated in the coming days.

The incident occurred on the same street involving a dead woman and her still-missing one-year-old daughter, but officials say there's no connection in the two cases.
