DANBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Dozens of puppies were rescued from a burning pet store in Danbury Thursday night.
The blaze at Puppy Love on Lake Avenue Extension broke out around 8:15 p.m., according to Mayor Mark Boughton.
Boughton says an estimated 50 to 60 people, some of them from a nearby grocery store and restaurants, created a line to pass cages of puppies to safety.
The animals were kept at a nearby building overnight.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No humans or canines were injured in the blaze, according to Boughton.
