MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Since they launched stepped-up holiday traffic patrols December 20, Connecticut State Police have arrested 76 people for driving under the influence, including 13 for the 24 hours covering New Year's Eve.Troopers have also responded to nearly 15,000 calls for service, helped 649 motorists, and investigated more than 950 crashes, according to numbers released Wednesday morning. Four of the crashes-- in Hartford, Westbrook, Windham and Bethany-- involved fatalities.Over the enforcement period, state police have issued nearly 2,700 traffic tickets, including more than 600 for speeding.
