(Hartford, Conn./WTIC)-A legislative panel holds virtual hearings in September to gauge public opinion on how to improve policing in the state. The state Police Transparency and Accountability Task Force formed in 2019 and helped approve the Police Accountability measure that passed this year. The four virtual sessions are being held September 3, 10, 17 and 24th. They run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m."It's most important to hear from the people of Connecticut regarding the challenges and circumstances we find ourselves in today", said State Representative Joshua Hall a task force member. The West Hartford Democrat also reacted to the recent shooting of 29-year old unarmed black man Jacob Blake in Kenosha Wisconsin. He was shot seven times in front of his children. The family says he's paralyzed. Blakes's shooting caused protestors to clash with police and the burning of multiple buildings."These shootings happen too often. We want to make sure they're processed in a just and fair way and there's accountability for those involved," Hall said.
