HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - An 18-year-old male swimmer has been reported missing after he was last seen going underwater in the Connecticut River, according to State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) officials.
The teenager went missing at about 5 p.m. Monday near Haddam Meadows State Park around the boat launch area, DEEP Spokesperson Will Healey said.
Local and state response agencies conducted a search and rescue Monday afternoon until dark, Healey said.
Search efforts resumed Tuesday morning.
The Haddam Meadows Boat Launch is closed with the ongoing search, Healey said.
