CROMWELL, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Travelers Championship golf tournament will be played in June, without on-site spectators because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Connecticut's PGA Tour event has long been a fan favorite, but this year, officials now confirm it will be a TV-only affair. Tournament Director Nathan Grube says it's in everyone's best interest.
Governor Ned Lamont agrees, it's a good call. “We’re gonna have a chance, at least on TV, to enjoy a sport which showcases the best of Connecticut in a safe way,” he said Wednesday.
The tournament is set for June 25-28 at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. Officials say those who bought tickets through Ticketmaster will get a refund within 30 days.
