Search for missing paraglider at the Farmington-Plainville line

WTIC Radio

A man who may have been having the time of his life on a motorized paraglider is likely oblivious to the commotion he inadvertently caused on the ground in Farmington on Wednesday morning.

First responders went to the end of Executive Drive in Farmington, near the Plainville line, in response to at least two 911 calls that reported a paraglider was too close to the tree line and crashed in a wooded and marshy area near the FSA athletic fields.

An eyewitness told WTIC she was driving down Route 6, heading to Executive Drive, in fact, when she also saw the low-riding red paraglider unusually close to the trees.

However, an extensive search, complete with a police drone for aerial coverage and mutual aid from Southington and Plainville, could not turn up any person in distress.

WTIC and police managed to connect with a local landscaper, named Bob, who captured some video of the paraglider, who was definitely low in the sky but seeming to enjoy his ride.

There's no word where he may have taken off from or landed, or whether he knows about the number of emergency responders who went looking for him.
