Two Dead In Cromwell Crash

CROMWELL, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Two people are dead following a crash on Route 9 in Cromwell Monday night.

State police say the driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck lost control on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 20S and struck an embankment in the median, causing the truck the roll over around 10:15 p.m.

The two passengers in the truck were ejected. Chloe Russell, 16, of Middletown was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital, said police. The second passenger, a female, was struck and dragged by an unknown vehicle for several hundred feet, said troopers. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was not immediately known.

The driver, Tavien Harris, 18, of Middletown, was taken to Hartford Hospital with possible injuries, said police.
