DEEP RIVER, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Two students at the Valley Regional High School in Deep River have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a Monday night letter, administrators say the school will remain closed to all students and non-essential staff on Tuesday, September 8, and Wednesday, September 9. Students and teachers are being told to shift to a distance learning model. All after school activites are also cancelled. The school says it plans to use this time for thorough contact tracing among students and employees as well as deep cleaning. Classes are set to resume on Thursday, September 10.
Classes at John Winthrop Middle School, Chester Elementary School, Deep River Elementary School and Essex Elementary School will continue as scheduled, as those buildings are not presently impacted by this situation.
