(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - It's an SRO crowd at the state capitol complex today as those for and against the religious exemption covering vaccinations make their feelings heard.
The legislature's Public Health Committee is hosting thousands who have shown up voice an opinion with several overflow rooms filled to capacity, as well.
The public hearing began at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and has been continuing into Thursday morning.
Lawmakers are considering doing away with non-medical exemptions for vaccinations.
Some say there isn't enough science to justify vaccinating their children and that vaccinations cause other health issues.
Still others are concerned that unvaccinated children will lead to more illnesses in schools.
2.5-percent of kindergarteners in Connecticut schools claim that religious exemption.
In addition to the hearing, a rally was held on the state capitol grounds as hundreds signed up to offer testimony.
