West Hartford Man Charged With Trying To Rob Local Restaurant

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A West Hartford man is under arrest for allegedly trying to rob a local restaurant with an airsoft-type handgun Thursday night.

West Hartford police say Julan Mickens, 19, attempted to rob the Subway on New Britain Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. He fled on foot and was located a short time later behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken just down the street, said authorities.

Mickens is charged with first-degree attempted robbery, illegal use of a facsimile firearm and first-degree threatening. He was held on $250,000 bond pending arraignment Friday at Hartford Superior Court.
