(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - There is an enhanced risk for brush fires in Connecticut today.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for all of the state until 8 o'clock tonight.
The dry weather over the last several days and low humidity, coupled with breezy conditions have helped to create a dry environment that could lead to fires.
DEEP's Forest Control Office is urging residents using the states parks, forests, and open spaces to use extreme caution today.
In addition, residents are advised to adhere to the local burning regulations of their respective city or town.
The fire season in Connecticut typically runs from the middle of March through mid-May.
On average, DEEP says about 500 acres of woodland in Connecticut are scorched by forest fires.
