HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - Republicans in the state Senate are outlining their priorities for the legislative session.
The Senate GOP wants to privatize more functions at the DMV and human services currently delivered by state employees, claiming research demonstrates that private providers can offer better quality and more services than those provided by the public sector.
Senate Republicans are also proposing a "citizens in need" account that would offer federal and state tax breaks to those who contribute, and a 35-year $65 billion transportation infrastructure plan, requiring no tolls or new taxes.
Tax breaks for defense contractors is also on the agenda, a strategy to preserve and grow jobs.
