HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Anti-toll protesters will be out in force across Connecticut. Members of the group No Tolls CT are holding protests Saturday at five locations, beginning in New Haven at the Wooster Coffee Shop.
Participants are urged to bring their own signs. Protests are also planned throughout the day in Stratford, Vernon, Tolland, and Trumbull. The group is urging toll opponents to contact their legislators daily and register their opposition to highway tolls. The General Assembly's Transportation Committee recently advanced three bills that would toll cars and trucks on Interstates 95, 91, 84 and sections of Route 15, possibly as soon as 2023.
Lawmakers say they will eventually be crafted into one bill.
It remains unclear if there's enough support to pass a final bill.
