Police say a man killed his girlfriend, two children, and himself at a home on Milford street in Plainville.
At around 4pm on Friday, Plainville police received a call from a woman who said her brother, Patrick King, 27, called her and said he had shot and killed his girlfriend and their 4-year-old daughter.
After a two hour standoff and attempted negotiation with the man, police fired pepper gas into the home in an attempt to have King give himself up.
"Upon deployment of the gas, Mr. King killed himself with a single gunshot to his head," said Plainville Police Chief Chris Vanghele.
Police found three other bodies, including King’s girlfriend, Felicia Matthews, 31, their 4-year-old daughter, Ava King, and Matthews’ daughter from a previous relationship, Mileena Matthews, 12, a middle school student. All had been shot.
Investigators say Patrick King had a permit to carry a gun. A motive for the shooting has not been determined.
“This is a very dark day for the town of Plainville and for Connecticut,” added Vanghele.
