(Bridgeport, Conn./WTIC) - Getting the word out on so-called pop up coronavirus vaccine clinics is the mission of local and state officials, as well as health experts.

They say it's these venues that are vital to citizens in underserved areas to ensure they get their shot when the time comes.

They also serve as a reassurance to some in the Black and Brown community in particular, still wary of the system or not sure that the vaccine is safe.

Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bridgeport is teaming up with Yale New Haven Health to host a pop up clinic at the church.

Pastor Kenneth Moales says they never closed their doors during several coronavirus surges and the vast majority of Covid funerals held in the Park City were at his church.

He says given all the death, they want to serve as a lifeline and offer hope to disenfranchised residents.
