(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system is lending a financial hand to its students.
The system will provide students with checks of between $100 and $350, depending on financial need.
The purpose, CSCU president Terrence Cheng says, is to allow for students to complete their degrees without the added burden of finances.
The money for the stimulus will come by way of federal dollars made available from the American Rescue Plan.
Cheng says the Student Support Program helps provide a boost for students and families struggling to make ends meet.
The first round of funding is being sent out this week via paper check to those students currently enrolled or who were enrolled in a community college since March 20 of last year.
This comes on the heels of a program announced last month to forgive debt to students who took on added expenses as a result of the pandemic.
