Gov. Ned Lamont is asking Hartford and ten other Connecticut communities to review and possibly strengthen their COVID-19 mitigation efforts.
Those cities and towns are marked in "red" in a new map released by the state Department of Public Health, indicating 15 or more cases for every 100,000 residents.
The "red" designation comes with a series of recommendations from the governor:
"These are not mandates, but our recommendations are certainly to, for example, postpone indoor activities, including some of the sports that would be indoors," said Lamont, "Schools, maybe time to start thinking about more remote learning."
Officials in Hartford have been considering a rollback in their school opening plan. Mayor Luke Bronin has called that move "likely" to happen at some point.
