
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A new record is set in a Connecticut Labor Day tradition.
Conner Mantz, 28, of Provo, Utah, breaks the record Monday in the Faxon Law New Haven 20k road race by winning it in 56:16. The previous record stood at 57:36.
Mantz won the race after breaking away from defending champion Hilary Bor in the final mile.
About 5,000 runners turned out for the 48th annual Labor Day race, which also featured a 5k, half marathon, marathon relay, and kids fun run.
