NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The North Haven Fire Department is mourning the loss of a 23-year department veteran.
Firefighter Anthony Desimone passed away unexpectedly on an unannounced date at the end of a 38-hour continuous shift at the fire station.
The Department says his family witnessed him collapse and suffer a medical emergency upon returning home from the shift.
First responders, answering a 9-1-1 call, brought Desimone to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Desimone was 50 years old.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
The Department will share funeral arrangements when they become available.
A cause of death hasn't been determined or announced.
