
Update: State police on Tuesday identified four Hartford women killed in Saturday morning's wrong-way crash on I-84: driver Natachia Rivera-Hall, 40, and passengers Yarelis Ramos, 37, Quashonda Grant, 31 and April Slade, 40. Troopers report that Rivera-Hall was driving a Chevy Equinox westbound on I-84 East and slammed head-first into a tractor-trailer cab.
Two drivers died in another Saturday morning wrong-way crash on I-91 in Meriden. State police say Charde Spates, 21, of New Haven was driving a Toyota Camry southbound on I-91 North. He collided head-on with a BMW driven by Judith Melvin-Levy, 50, of Windsor. There was a survivor in Melvin-Levy's car: Justin Levy, 21, who was evaluated for non-life threatening injuries.
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Six people were killed Saturday in two early morning crashes involving drivers traveling in the wrong direction on Connecticut highways, according to state police.
The first accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 91 in Meriden when a vehicle seen traveling south in the northbound lanes near exit 18 collided with another vehicle.
Two people were killed, Trooper Pedro Muniz said in an emailed statement.
The second crash, in which four people died, was reported about 20 minutes later on Interstate 84 in Hartford.
Both accidents were under investigation Saturday. Additional details were not immediately available.
