WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Governor Lamont is directing more Connecticut National Guard resources to North Carolina on Friday for further Hurricane Helene disaster recovery.

North Carolina has been requesting more help and resources from various agencies as it continues its rescue and recovery efforts in the face of serious wreckage from the powerful storm that's killed at least 215 people as of Friday morning.

Connecticut is sending one additional CH-47 Chinook helicopter, one UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter, and an aircrew of 16 soldiers to Salisbury, North Carolina.

The crew departed from the Army Aviation Support Facility in Windsor Locks, near Bradley International Airport.
