Hartford, Conn(WTIC Radio)-Responding to the Public Interest Research Group's annual Trouble in Toyland report, officials at Connecticut Children's Medical Center offered tips about purchasing
safe toys for children.
That includes avoiding small batteries that ingested could cause suffocation or internal injuries. Also watch magnets, plastic guns that fire projectiles and burst balloons because the remnants are potential killers.
Dr. Steven Rogers, Emergency Department Attending Physician, also advised parents to check toys for choking hazards, provide a helmet for toys that children ride, avoid magnetic toys and conduct research for placing any on-line orders.
